In Gigs2Go the outer body of the drive is made up of entirely recycled paper or molded paper since they wanted to create a disposable and eco-friendly usb drive that you can give to your friends, colleagues, office mates and more. The caps that they have used are made from plastic but just a small amount since they would want to use it is inside the holder which is the part where you tear it off
Drive
The chip they are using is a Chip on Board (COB) flash memory stick which is much more sturdier than the ones used by regular usb drives, it is waterproof and shockproof. Plus they are a USB 2.0 standard chip which is quite fast for reading files, moving files and copying files to your drive from the computer or vice versa.
Size
The pack has the size of a credit card which is very light for small and compact for a USB plus it is very light weight. The exact measurements are 2.2” X 3.5” X .14”
Importance
The Importance of this usb is quite high since we are using an eco friendly product that is 100% made of recycled paper, we don’t need to fuss over about giving our prized usb to other people especially if they are expensive and have a lot of sentimental value to you. USB flash drives are often perceived as always having that plastic and high tech look attached to it. But did you ever imagine yourself owning a flash drives that is made simply made from recycled paper and is biodegradable, specifically molded paper pulp? thats almost the same material that cardboard boxes are made of! It is 100% environment friendly and to add to that it is waterproof.
The focal point of this innovation was to help avoid problems when transferring large files from one place to another, because more often than not there are times when there are Firewalls, and other hindrances that may occur when transferring files. Even using Dropbox takes a very long time to download which does not help the “Emergency” files get transferred. By promoting the idea of sharing and interacting with one another in a very direct and easy way, with not one, but four USB flash drive straight from your pocket the Gigs 2 Go paves the way for environmental safety and personal comfort as well, for a very holistic approach. The project was successfully funded in January 9, 2014 and is still constantly being modified for the better.
