Revolutionary Airline Seats: Airgo

By Aldric Go, Trisha Goyena, Carlo Sarmiento

The revolutionary new design of the economy class cabins made the standard class seating almost as luxurious as the first class through AirGo, a company that provides aviation training, sales, and support. This concept was proposed by Malaysia-based engineering student, Alireza Yaghoubi, and has already been recognized by the James Dyson Foundation in Malaysia, which acknowledges the next generation of design engineers.

Mr. Yaghoubi also experienced a “series of cramped and uncomfortable eight-hour flights back home to visit his family.” This is why he was inspired to think of a new design for the economy class.

These AirGo airline seats are a low-cost and ergonomic approach to the economy class cabin design. It promises a deal of comfort and personal space to the passengers.

Features:

One thing that makes the AirGo airline seats minimize costs is that the seats are made thinner, making it more space-efficient. It is also a good thing that comfort is not sacrificed with the low cost as the seats are made of a strong and flexible material, nylon mesh, which takes the shape of the passenger’s body. This will help in avoiding fatigue. Aside from that, it also minimizes sweating!

There are also 3 motors within the design for the passengers to customize their seating position. They help more in taking the shape of the passenger’s body in a way that it the seats can be adjusted to perfectly fit the posture of the passenger - helping them to avoid neck and back pain. Having comfortable seats during flights helps in reducing different problems that occur to passengers.

Moving on to the ‘personal space’ feature of the revolutionary new design, seat trays, entertainment screens, and footrests are no longer part of the seat of the passenger in front. Passengers now have full control over their own space. The footrest is now part of the passenger’s own seat which can be controlled to better suit the position of the passenger. Entertainment screens and trays are now placed above the passenger in their own storage compartment. The touch screen is fixed independently from seats so that passengers can move the arms to control the desired position. The tray has a similar mechanism.

With these new innovations, this allows the travelling experience to be reinvented. With the economic class sometimes contributing to an uncomfortable flight, the new economy class redesign is made to make it all easy and comfortable for the common traveller. Truly, the new design is all about comfort!
